From Brainstorm To Brochure - Students Celebrate Naming New Huntingdon Development
30 May 2014

BUSINESS students from Huntingdon have been among the first to view the brochure to market new homes in the town – designed as a result of their own branding and creative ideas.

At the start of the year, Linden Homes Midlands enlisted the help of students from Huntingdonshire Regional College to come up with a concept and name for its new development on California Road.

The Year 2 students researched the local area and came up with a range of branding ideas and marketing names for the 180 home development – which is to be called Saxon Gardens.

The group of budding businessmen and women got the first glimpse of the hot-of-the-press Saxon Gardens brochure, designed by Pope Jones Partnership during a special on-site presentation.

Linden Homes area sales manager Warren O’Callaghan said: “When we issued the invitation to the college we had no idea of just how much research and work the students would put into the project.

“Their creativity and inspirational ideas were fantastic and we are thrilled with the outcome – not only that we have a wonderful new development name, but that Linden Homes has been able to offer some valuable experience to the students as part of their studies.

“The brochure looks fantastic and we are looking forward to launching the development in a few weeks time and welcoming the students back to see the progress in the coming months.”

Course tutor Ali Paine said: “A group of 15 Year 2 students were given the opportunity of designing a name and logo for Linden Homes, carrying out research into the company and taking into consideration its corporate colours, existing names and logos and company ethos. They also researched the history of Huntingdonshire to get inspiration for their work.

“They worked very hard and created some excellent pitches to send to Linden Homes.  They enjoyed the freedom of creating a product from scratch and relating their work to a “real life” project that will develop within the local community.

“We are thrilled that they are able to continue with the process of seeing how their creativity is being developed and used in a genuine business situation.”

With the brochure now complete and interest in the development rising, Saxon Gardens will open its show home doors during the weekend of June 14/15.
