There are exciting times ahead for Biddenham – with hundreds of new homes on the cards and a brand new primary academy opening its doors this September.
Helping to mark the milestone for the area, Bedford Mayor Dave Hodgson - joined by a number of guests – was invited to a special turf cutting ceremony at the Great Ouse Primary Academy.
The Academy will welcome its first intake of pupils this September. New principal Paul Ives organised the ceremony, also attended by representatives from developers Linden Homes Midlands and Bovis Homes, as well as school construction company, Mi-space (a division of the Midas Group).
Linden Homes is currently building almost 400 new homes – many of them family houses – across its popular St Andrews and St Marys developments in Biddenham.
Managing director Mike Coker said: “Linden Homes Midlands is delighted to be part of what is an exciting time in shaping the housing and educational community for Biddenham, with exceptional new homes and a state of the art primary academy. We anticipate many of our families will have children who go on to attend the new school and form the start of a bright and exciting future for the area. Our homes are perfectly positioned to enjoy all the wonderful benefits of a semi-rural area whilst being in a convenient commutable location.”
Great Ouse Primary Academy principal Paul Ives added: “The Sharnbrook Academy Federation (SAF) team at Great Ouse Primary Academy are developing a school that thinks and dreams big for its pupils. Expectations will be high for all who make up the Great Ouse Primary Academy community and these standards reflect the wonderful physical environment we are developing to enable children to flourish within and beyond the school walls. We are committed to developing learners who are resilient, learners who are focused and learners who are aspirational in their goals; learners well prepared to be successful citizens of the 21st century. We believe that the school absolutely belongs to our community of children, staff, parents and carers. It is a wonderful opportunity for everyone to be part of something special.”
Rob Bradley, executive director, Midas Group commented: “As part of one of the largest independent construction companies in the UK, Mi-space (a Division of the Midas Group) is delighted to be building our 21st school in 15 years for Great Ouse Primary. Through collaboration with school stakeholders, our Mi-school model will deliver a bespoke building at industry-leading costs with high customer satisfaction. It is extremely rewarding to be part of this school’s vision for future generations who will further contribute to its industrious and diverse community.”
