Linden Homes hosted a Christmas Community Event at its French Furze development in Blackawton and it definitely hit the right note, thanks to the dulcet tones of the Blackawton Community Choir.
Councillors, the Reverend, local business people and members of the community came along to enjoy food and drink provided by the village’s The George Inn and to hear some Christmas carols.
Emma Colin, sales and marketing director for Linden Homes, said: “The local community have been really understanding while we’ve been building and we wanted to thank them for all their support. It was such a festive event and it was wonderful to see everyone singing along with the group carols. Blackawton has so much community spirit, you can’t help but fall in love with it as soon as you arrive, it’s a charming village.”
Emma added: “French Furze will feature 60 well-designed homes and while that doesn’t sound like a huge amount, we’re aware it will have a big impact on Blackawton and we’re keen to keep working with the community. As well as providing local homes, we hope the development will lead to more customers in the pub, post office and shop, extra people helping with the Parish Council and more members in all the local clubs. From the Blackawton Amateur Dramatics Society to the Saturday Cooking Club, there are so many active groups – it’s amazing for a village of this size and they demonstrate that community is at the heart of everything.”
