Developer Linden Homes received an invitation to a Bedfordshire event fit for a Queen – as part of a village tradition dating back over 60 years!
The Rose Queen Fete is a key date in the Blunham calendar; and is centred around children from the John Donne Primary School selecting a Rose Queen, attendants, crown bearer and guards.
The tradition involves a colourful procession from the village church to the school, with dancing in the playground by John Donne schoolchildren before all the fun of a traditional fete, which this year was sponsored by Linden Homes.
Sales representatives from the company, which is currently building a range of family homes at the Hastings Gardens development in the village, attended the crowning ceremony.
This year’s coveted title of Rose Queen went to 11-year-old Chloe Larcombe – pictured Linden Homes Midlands sales executive Suzie Hargreaves. Also pictured is the ceremony from 1955!
Emma Forbes-Laird, one of the event organisers, said: “We had a wonderful day which we were delighted to share with so many people – from those who have been enjoying the fete for many years to newcomers to our village tradition.
“Our grateful thanks to Linden Homes Midlands for their generous support and for being part of the day.”
