Barley Rise, the exciting second phase of Linden Homes’ ‘Old Brewery’ in Horndean, has now been released.
This unusual development embraces many of the old buildings and old sites associated with Gales’, which was established in the 1880s but sold in 2005.
The former brewery once played a significant part in the life of Horndean. It was a major employer and a lynchpin of the village: In fact the Gales Brewery tower is still the first thing you see as you drive down the hill into the heart of the old village.
Today the new Linden Homes are being built on the different parts of the old site, in a series of phases that include both new and refurbished homes.
Phase two of the redevelopment - Barley Rise - consists of 2, 3 and 4 bedroom family homes and 1 and 2 bedroom apartments.
By early spring Linden Homes will have opened the new show home, a three storey, 3 bedroom house that will offer visitors an excellent opportunity to get a feel for these properties and see for themselves the excellent finish that is synonymous with all Linden Homes.
Tina Chalk, the marketing manager of Linden Homes Southern, says the homes will give the centre of the village a new lease of life:
“Gales’ brewery played such an important role in Horndean that when it closed, its absence was keenly felt. But now the redevelopment has meant that the centre of the village is being brought back to life again – with new homes being built and new families moving in. So 2014 promises to be an exciting time for this old Hampshire village: It’s a new chapter in its long life.”
Horndean offers some excellent village facilities including a post office, pubs, a library and a village store. Rowlands Castle railway station is just two miles and offers direct, regular services to London Waterloo. There are excellent road links too, to London, Southampton and Portsmouth via the A3, M27 and M3.
