Developer Linden Homes is continuing its support of one of East Riding’s most popular and long-running leisure facilities – Pocklington Tennis Club.
Established in 1921, it has grown in to the area’s premier tennis club – with around 100 adult members and large junior section, as well as running sessions for all ages and ablilities.
And located just a stone’s throw from Linden Homes East Yorkshire’s Wilberforce Manor and The Balk developments, it provides a perfect social and sporting facility on the doorstep for new residents.
Linden Homes sales manager Julie Hubbard presented a cheque to the club as a continuation of the developer’s ongoing sponsorship.
She said: “We are delighted to continue our association with Pocklington Tennis Club, a fantastic facility for the residents of the town and beyond.”
Pocklington is a popular self-sufficient historic market town, often referred to as the Gateway to the Yorkshire Wolds.
And while the town retains many of its historical highlights, places of natural beauty and of course its association with the Wolds, it offers all the elements associated with a thriving town and busy community – with its popular Arts Centre and numbers shops and places to dine out.
For those looking for a gentler pace, Pocklington also offers access to a host of relaxing outdoor pursuits, with an abundance of walkways, cycle ways and open spaces.
There’s also the chance for a spot of fly-fishing at nearby Allerthorpe Lakeland Park - which comes complete with its own watersports facilities and BMX Park and a visit around the Burnby Hall Gardens. Those looking for something more sporty, in addition to the tennis club, can enjoy rugby with Pocklington RUFC or the Wolds Gliding Club, also based in the town.
And for anyone looking to move to, or within the area, the Wilberforce Manor and The Balk developments offer home hunters the chance of a brand new home in a sought after location.
