Staff, residents, subcontractors and members of the community all pulled together and helped Linden Homes Western collect a huge hoard of Easter eggs for the Teenage Cancer Trust’s local Bristol unit.
Sarah Sperring from Linden Homes said: “The Teenage Cancer Trust is our charity of the year and alongside all the fundraising, we asked people to donate Easter eggs for the patients and their families. We held collections at our sites, as well as at head office, and we were so pleased that everyone got behind this fantastic drive – especially the team at The Orchards development in Thornbury for its enormous pile!”
Bridget Woodard, regional fundraising manager for Teenage Cancer Trust, said: “We would like to thank everyone at Linden Homes for such an amazing gift! Cancer turns young people and their families lives upside down. Celebrating with family at times like Easter can feel a world away when you are going through weeks or months of treatment. A treat like these wonderful eggs can help everyone feel just a little bit ‘normal’ and knowing that people care enough to go the extra mile to support them can mean a huge amount.”
Sarah added: “We know first-hand what a wonderful job the Trust does as a colleague’s 20-year-old daughter was diagnosed with cancer and receives invaluable support from them. We wanted to help the charity that had done so much to help her, so we’ve been holding golf days, bake sales, dress down days and raffles to boost our contribution. We’re delighted to be helping the Teenage Cancer Trust.”
Providing expert treatment and support to young people from the moment they hear the word ‘cancer’, the Teenage Cancer Trust runs world class specialist units in 28 hospitals, with dedicated nurses and youth support coordinators; they also run events and help provide a wide choice of free wigs for the 13 to 24 year olds.
