Beth and Jason Kew moved in the same month as their wedding, after they discovered the perfect new home for their blended family.
The couple found their new house at Linden Homes’ Church Walk development in Newton Abbot. They’d previously lived in a two bedroom rented barn conversion in Berry Pomeroy but needed more space for their family.
Beth has two children – Jacob (13) and Molly (11) who live with them – and Jason has Annalise (9) and Elliott (7) who stay every other weekend and for half the holidays. They have a pet dog, Livvy, who they rescued.
Jason, 51, works part-time for a charity involved in social justice and also owns his own business, where he deals with drug education policy and training. Beth, 49, works alongside Jason, helping with administration.
Speaking about their house move, Beth commented: “Since we relocated to Devon, our life has been in Totnes but we wanted to move to Newton Abbot as it’s closer for Jacob and Molly to visit their dad in Hounslow and for Annalise and Elliott to travel from their mum’s in Reading. The transport links to Exeter are much better and the children will also have more amenities nearby as they get older.
“We moved to our three bedroom semi-detached home in April and got married at the end of March, so we definitely had a busy spring!
“We love our home, it’s quietly tucked away overlooking the estuary, the countryside and the town. It’s also near Highweek and the church yard, where we often take Livvy for long walks and there are spectacular views over Newton Abbot to Shaldon.
“Buying a new home has been a great move for us – not just in terms of affordability and location, but after an eventful year already we haven’t had to spend time decorating or renovating as everything has been done.
“The team couldn’t have been more helpful and they’ve pretty much been there for us 24/7. What I find amazing is that despite the number of homes Linden Homes is building on site, the team made us feel like we were the only customers. Nothing was too much trouble and they made us feel so important, it has cascaded through every aspect of our purchase and we were incredibly impressed. There were also wonderful touches on our completion day including a welcome pack, flowers and a hamper.
“The site team’s also been very courteous and Levi, the assistant site manager, is amazing.
“We really couldn’t be happier. There’s a great sense of community that’s so charming, we have lovely neighbours and like the extra elements to the development including the public art, attenuation basin with wildflowers and grasses, and the park. We know we’re going to be very happy here.”
