White Rock Development Launches - Providing 350 New Homes...

...And An Exciting New Training And Education Hub For The Local Community.

Linden Homes, working in partnership with Aster Homes, has just launched White Rock in Paignton - an exciting new development of 350 high quality homes, along with a specialised training and education hub (with National Skills Academy for Construction status).

The sales and marketing suite, show home and training and education hub were unveiled at a special launch event on Friday 23rd January, attended by key stakeholders, local Councillors, subcontractors and members of the community.

The development, which also includes public open space, allotments and a sports provision, has been designed to fit in with its surroundings, creating a good quality and safe environment, with a focus on family homes. White Rock will comprise a wide range of new one bedroom apartments, two bedroom coach houses, plus two, three and four bedroom houses, all built to a high specification with stylish kitchens and bathrooms.

The training and education hub enables schools, trainees and apprentices to learn construction skills, such as carpentry, bricklaying, business administration and plumbing etc. Linden Homes will be working with the CITB and South Devon College to deliver this exciting facility where students and sub-contractors can learn more about building methods and be taught new skills to complement their existing knowledge, as well as upskilling to achieve higher level qualifications.

The Mayor of Torbay, Gordon Oliver said: “I was pleased to support this fantastic event, White Rock is not only providing high quality new homes in Paignton but it’s enabling local people to learn construction skills. Generally speaking, unemployment fell to 2.3% in Torbay, which is the lowest it’s been in years and over 1,500 jobs have been created for young people in Torbay and so I was extremely impressed with the development and how it will provide much needed homes and jobs for the local community.”

Nigel Palmer, managing director for Linden Homes South West said: “We are delighted to be working with Aster Homes and launching White Rock, with the new training and education hub. I must thank the CITB and the South Devon College for helping this exciting project come to fruition, it will help to create new training and education opportunities in the construction industry, which is something we’re very passionate about.

“We have had a huge amount of support from the local community, White Rock Primary School’s new cheerleading squad did a fantastic job when they performed at the launch, South Devon College’s Hospitality, Catering and Tourism Section made and served the refreshments and we had a number of local people attend to see how the development is progressing.”

Clare Crawford, commercial director for Aster Homes said: We’re really excited to be officially launching White Rock. We’ve been working closely with Linden Homes for over a year now and, through our strategic joint venture partnership, we’re going to be delivering new homes together over the next seven years, across the South West.

“This new development will undoubtedly play a big part in that, so we’re really looking forward to seeing the homes here take shape and watching the first families moving in.”

Karen Blacklaw, strategic partnership advisor for the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) said: “My role allows me to work with employers such as Linden Homes, to really showcase the construction industry and make sure that while we’re building fabulous new homes like the ones at White Rock, we are also creating new employment and training opportunities for local people. Well done to all involved and I look forward to seeing how the site takes shape!”

There are currently a selection of two, three and four bedroom homes released for sale at White Rock.

Linden Homes is building homes locally at Orestone View in Goodrington, The Copse in Ogwell and will soon be launching Camomile Lawn in Totnes and Kings Gate in Kingsteignton.

Linden Homes is part of the Galliford Try Group, the company responsible for delivering the South Devon Link Road by the end of 2015.
