Youngsters and teachers from Witham St Hughs have taken lessons out of the classroom and onto a construction site – as part of their school science project.
Year 3 and 4 children from Witham St Hughs Academy were special guests at Linden Homes’ Cygnet Place development in the village, which hosted an exciting visit by a group of seven to nine-year-olds.
Learning that there is much more to building new homes than just bricks and mortar, the children were able to find out about the kind of rocks and soil at the development, as part of their science project, which is alongside their current Active Planet topic.
Pupils enjoyed getting up close and personal with soil, rock and earth, and also received an insight into what goes into building new homes – as well as the health and safety surrounding building sites - thanks to Linden Homes site manager Nick Robinson and H&S manager Steve Spedding.
After a busy morning, they enjoyed refreshments served up by sales executive Lynda Price in the show home.
Teacher Emily Broadley said: “We all had a fantastic morning and had a lot of fun while learning hands on about something which is relevant to our current lessons. Our thanks to the Linden Homes team for making us feel so welcome.”
Linden Homes sales manager Bev Bray added: “It was a pleasure for us to welcome Emily, members of staff and of course the children to Cygnet Place – which we hope they will enjoy seeing the development progress over the coming weeks and months.
“School visits of this kind are hugely important to us a business coming into the village, and part of our on going community engagement with this and other areas in which we are building.”
Cygnet Place is perfectly positioned to offer the best of both worlds, with commutable Lincoln just around 20 minutes away – ticking all the boxes with its carefully designed three and four-bedroom homes.
The sales and marketing suite and show home are open daily from 10.30am-5.00pm Alternatively contact the sales team on 01522 861724. More details are available from the website.
