Father Christmas made a special drop off to Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford this week, with a sack of presents for the young patients on Phoenix ward.
The gifts had been donated by staff, members of the public and residents of Linden Homes’ development in the city, as part of Linden Homes’ appeal to bring Christmas sparkle to local children who have to spend the festive season in hospital.
Hazel Hester, marketing manager from Linden Homes helped Santa to deliver the gifts:
“Some of the children at Broomfield weren’t able to go home for Christmas this year but we wanted them to know that our staff and customers were thinking of them: We hope the gifts brought a little extra seasonal sparkle to the children’s ward this Christmas. Linden Homes would like to thank everyone who generously donated gifts for our appeal. I am sure they were much appreciated!”
The local St John’s development in Chelmsford is a mix of new and refurbished homes. Prior to Linden Homes working on this development it used to be St John’s hospital where it is estimated that around half of the population of the city was born at the busy maternity unit. The maternity unit moved to Broomfield Hospital when St John’s closed.
