Saffron Walden Couple Find Perfect Family Home On Their Doorstep
12 Apr 2018

A young couple from Saffron Walden have found their perfect family home at Linden Homes’ Saffron View development thanks to the Help to Buy scheme.

Product developer Sarah Sherring and her accountant husband Will relocated to Saffron Walden in 2017 and were keen to buy their own home having rented for most of the year.

However, on more than one occasion, they found that their budget didn’t stretch quite as far as they had hoped – in some cases not even as far as an upstairs bathroom.

Sarah Sherring said: “Our families live a long way away so we wanted a third bedroom to be able to have them come to stay. However, three-bed properties ate up a lot of our budget.”

The Help to Buy scheme made it possible for the Sherrings, and lots of other people like them, to purchase their own home.

The Sherrings secured their dream 3-bedroom home at Saffron View, a superb new development of 2, 3, 4 and 5-bedroom homes, in a wonderful semi-rural setting that is perfect for raising a family.

Sarah explained: “I am currently working part-time after being on maternity leave. Help to Buy means that in five years when I am back to work full-time we will be able to pay back the loan, interest and payment free.”

Saffron Walden is a picturesque, medieval town close to the Hertfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Suffolk borders. The town has had its own market since the 12th century and today also boasts an array of independent shops, national retailers, cafés, pubs and restaurants.

The town is a major centre for the arts with its own cinema, concert hall, art galleries and museum. For active residents, the leisure centre offers swimming, gym and tennis facilities and there are several golf courses and equestrian centres in the area.

Families like the Sherrings are spoilt for choice for days out with a host of outdoor activities and beautiful rolling countryside on their doorstep. Transport links are excellent too, with the nearby M11 giving easy access north to Cambridge and East Anglia, or south to Stansted Airport, the M25 and London.

Sarah added: “We are really pleased with our new home. The bedroom sizes are great and our daughter’s room is not at all compromised as the third room and there is a surprising amount of storage. Our parents really like the house too and we can’t wait to entertain them on the patio in the summer.”
