Well-known for constructing new homes in and around Hull, Linden Homes North is now building on the area’s sporting links.
The Hessle-based developer has teamed up with the long running Hull Ionians RUFC, a rugby union club in the National I league, to sponsor its forthcoming Under 17s 7-a-side tournament.
Club bosses hope that the tournament, which takes place at Brantingham Park in Elloughton on Easter Sunday 27 March, will become an annual event and beyond.
The tournament will see teams from clubs in North East Lincolnshire and around Yorkshire take part alongside Hull Ionians’ Junior Colts.
Hull Ionians and former U17s manager, David Reid is behind the event. He said: There is currently no club 7-a-side provision for this age group in Yorkshire and, with the format becoming an Olympic event for the first time in 2016, I decided to do something about it.
“This is the inaugural event of what we hope will become an annual tournament that will attract teams from all over the region.
“We are hugely grateful to Linden Homes North for their generous sponsorship, and hope that they will support us in building up the event in years to come.”
The family-friendly event takes place between 11am and 5pm, and there will be an all-day BBQ as well as post-tournament refreshments in the clubhouse.
Linden Homes North’s sponsorship also includes branded hoarding displayed around the ground and support of the club’s newsletter.

Hull Ionians was formed in 1989 by the merging of Hull and East Riding with Ionians, but was established as a club in its own right in 1929.
The National I league is the third highest level in English rugby behind the Premiership and Championship. The Club has four senior adult teams, Junior and Senior Colts, and Teams in the Mini Junior Section from U6 through to U16 covering all age groups.
