National Apprenticeship Week - Linden Homes Boss Speaks Out
18 Feb 2014

Young people and employers will discover more about the benefits of apprenticeships at a special event where the chief executive of Linden Homes’ parent company, Galliford Try, is due to speak.

Greg Fitzgerald has climbed the heights since he began his career at South Devon College on a building studies course, so he is well placed to add his valuable advice to the event at a business breakfast for employers on March 5th at Exeter racecourse.

Held as part of this year’s National Apprenticeship Week, it is being organised by Devon County Council and Education Business Partnership South West as an interactive way to spread understanding.

There will also be an ‘Apprenticeship Slam’ session for young people, which involves individuals from the world of apprenticeships competing for the title, ‘I have the best job’.

Councillor Andrew Leadbetter, Devon County Council’s Cabinet Member with responsibility for economy and growth, said: “Young people in Devon are our future workforce and it is vital to our economic growth that we attract and retain young talent within the county.”

Linden Homes recently announced a partnership with South Devon College to run a new training and education hub in Paignton to help teach key trades such as painting and decorating, bricklaying, plumbing, carpentry and business administration.

The company is building homes in Exeter, Exminster, Goodrington, Okehampton, Westward Ho!, Plymouth, Liskeard, Duporth, Grampound, Truro, Wadebridge and Redruth.
