Mums And Daughters Share Office And Work Life At Regional House Builder
30 Mar 2018

With March marking International Women’s Day and Mother’s Day – regional developer Linden Homes Midlands is celebrating the special bond between Mums and Daughters!

The company – which has its head office in Peterborough - has not one, but two sets of mothers and daughters working for it in a number of departments across the new homes business.

The newest pair to share not only a family name, but the same job title, are sales executives Heather and Holly Jackson.

Having both worked together previously, the two have been reunited in their working life – with Holly based at The Spinneys, a new development in Cawston near Rugby and Heather at the established Oxley Gardens development in Milton Keynes.

Both had interviews for a sales executive position on the same day – Holly in the morning and Heather the last interview of the day, with the company unaware that the women were related!

Each received a job offer and are now enjoying their first few weeks with Linden Homes Midlands.

Heather said: “It was co-incidence really that we had our interviews on the same day, and the company didn’t know at the time that we were related! I am thrilled to be working alongside Holly again. We spent four years working with each other in a previous role.”

Holly, who also has the excitement of working at a brand new development, added: “I really enjoy working with mum, I’ve learnt so much from her and hope to be as professionally good as her one day.”

Heather and Holly follow in the footsteps of sales progressor Tanya Fairbass and daughter Amber.

Tanya, who has been working in the sales department at head office since 2015, joined the company six months after her daughter Amber took up an original post as production administrator.

Amber now works as part of the sales and marketing team, which means mum and daughter both work in the same department.

She said: “Amber saw the job vacancy advertised online and began her new job at the same time as she moved out of our family home.

“She had no idea I had been approached about the vacancy as a sales progressor in the sales department and we started working at head office together six months later!

“It's nice to know I will see Amber to say good morning to each week day. We get on really well and share interests outside of work – so there is always plenty to talk about. We enjoy getting together for BBQs and shopping trips.”

Amber added: “It’s great to know I’ll see mum every day, and even though we are too busy to talk to each other during the working day, we try to sit together for half an hour and grab a bite to eat and catch up over lunchtime.”
