Children at Stoke Park Infant School in Eastleigh are enjoying the first phase of a new ‘Magical Woodland Theatre’ shortly, thanks to a donation from award-winning housebuilder, Linden Homes.
The donation of £500 was gifted to Stoke Park Infant Association, which has been fundraising for the project. The creation of the ‘Magical Woodland Theatre’ will promote speaking and listening opportunities in both lessons and play time.
Currently, play space for the 270, four to seven-year-old pupils at the school is limited but the ‘Magical Woodland Theatre’ is set to improve the space, providing increased play opportunities, helping develop essential communication skills.
Emma Charles, Headteacher at Stoke Park Infant School said: “We’re thrilled that the first phase of our ‘Magical Woodland Theatre’ has been completed in time for the summer term thanks to the donation from Linden Homes. We’re half way through our fundraising and hope to reach our target to ensure the second phase of the project is completed.
“The new facilities will improve our pupils’ playtime experience to support speech and language development which is essential to their progress in both lesson and play time. It’s great to see large companies, like Linden Homes, show support to local schools and organisations like ourselves.”
Once complete, the ‘Magical Woodland Theatre’ will include a stage to encourage children to perform, a storytelling throne, role play structures and climbing equipment to build core and upper body strength, not only vital for physical activities but also essential for writing.
