School leavers up and down the country are set to receive their GCSE results tomorrow and top-10 housebuilder, Linden Homes Western, is proud to offer an interesting career path with its management trainee programme. A comprehensive training scheme, that gives school leavers the necessary skills and qualifications to have a successful career in the housebuilding industry.
The programme covers all aspects of the housebuilding process from the initial land buying, all the way through to the selling and marketing of the newly-built homes. Although trainees will focus on one area of the business, they will have the opportunity to complete departmental rotations to gain a valuable insight into how the business works as a whole.
Linden Homes has found that often students and their parents do not realise the opportunities that are offered in the housebuilding sector and those who have followed the Linden Homes management trainee programme have been delighted at the career progression and pay opportunities under one roof.
24 year-old Jordan Sheppard from Bristol joined Linden Homes’ management trainee programme 18 months ago. After completing his A levels, Jordan decided he wanted to work in the construction industry and did some labouring and landscaping work in the UK, as well as abroad. Upon his return, he joined Linden Homes as a Trainee Engineer working within the technical department and has recently been promoted to Assistant Technical Coordinator.
Commenting on his time so far in the programme, Jordan commented: “The management trainee programme is a fantastic way to learn about how the different aspects of the business work together to provide high-quality new homes within communities. I’ve spent time on site and with the other departments including: commercial , land, marketing and sales, finance and construction and it really does give you a great overview.
“I am so pleased that I came across the opportunity to work in housebuilding. I’m doing a two year HNC in construction and the built environment at the City of Bristol College and love earning and learning at the same time. It’s been a great balance for me and I can definitely recommend it as a career path!”
Chris Harris, Managing Director at Linden Homes Western, commented: “For those who have just received their results and are not all that sure on your next step, I’d encourage you to look at the other options that are out there. We have a variety of diverse roles outside of the expected ‘normal’ construction jobs, these include, land purchasing, planning, sales and marketing, technical, quantity surveying and customer service”.
On top of equipping trainees with the relevant skills and experience to have a successful career, the trainee programme also offers a number of other incentives including a competitive starting salary, trainees will benefit from an annual bonus scheme, private healthcare and discounted gym memberships.
The management trainee scheme is open to anyone with 5 GCSE’S at 4-9 grade, including Maths and English. BTEC, A Levels and equivalent vocational qualifications are also welcomed. For more information visit the website.
