Keen cyclists from Linden Homes North will be using pedal power to help raise funds for local good causes while celebrating – and raising the profile of – Yorkshire.
A team from the Hessle-based house builder will be taking part in the Carter Jonas Yorkshire Pedalthon, a 40 or 70 mile cycle ride across the region, set against the stunning backdrop of Ripley Castle.
As well as raising funds for Yorkshire Air Ambulance and Land Aid, the event on 8 May brings together cyclists, local businesses and celebrates Yorkshire produce – with food stations along the way to showcase food and drink from local suppliers.
Leading the Linden Homes North team is land director Andy Byrne (pictured), who will be joined by strategic land and planning manager Jennifer Winyard, production manager Andy Devine and assistant quantity surveyor, Sam Amies.
The team is now in training, and hopes to add to, and build on, the £15,000 raised from the event last year.
Andy said: “This is a fantastic event which brings together members of the business community and keen cyclists in a fun and social climate, whilst raising money for good causes and profiles the local area.
“With a strong and growing presence in Yorkshire, Linden Homes North is delighted to have the opportunity to be part of an event which brings together so many people and celebrates Yorkshire.”
Last year’s event attracted more than 67 business teams from across the region and Carter Jonas hopes to exceed that this year. The event is being co-ordinated by cycling event company Iconic Cycling Events.
David Aspland, Carter Jonas’ head of commercial in the northern region said: “The Yorkshire Pedalthon promises to be a great networking cycling event for enthusiastic cyclists in the business community with the shorter route giving those who want to “have a go” some fun cycling in the spectacular Yorkshire countryside, whilst raising money for charity.”
