Linden Homes Donation Helps Primary School Towards New Outdoor Play Area
08 Oct 2020

Award winning developer Linden Homes (part of Vistry Group) has donated £800 to Mount Pleasant Lane Primary School, to aid the creation of a new outdoor play area for the children. Located close to the developers Hanstead Park development in the Hertfordshire village of Bricket Wood, the donation will be a fantastic boost to the school’s fundraising target.

The welcome donation from Linden Homes will be used to help revamp the school playground, to provide new picnic benches and a smaller, safe storage box for the younger children’s play equipment. The school will also use some of the donation towards constructing an outdoor raised decking area in the key stage two playground for use by the older children.

Katie Holmes, Co-Chair of The PTA at Mount Pleasant Lane Primary School said: “We are very lucky at Mount Pleasant Lane to have spacious grounds to make the most of the potential for outdoor play to support learning. However, we have limited funds to pay for developing and improving our facilities, the area was suffering from wear and tear and in need of a makeover. The generous sum of £800 kindly donated by Linden Homes will be a fantastic boost to improving the outdoor play areas and I am sure the children will benefit hugely with many hours of fun that will also boost their learning experience.”

Giving children the opportunity to play outdoors is vital to many aspects of their social and emotional development. The benefits of the donation will also go beyond improving the play facilities, it will support the school’s aim to provide a friendly, happy, and supportive place for their current and future pupils.

Jason Colmer, Sales and Marketing Director at Linden Homes Eastern, said: “We’re delighted to be able to contribute towards the improvements to the outdoor play areas. We underestimate how important outdoor activity is for children. It brings so many benefits not just to their health and well-being but encourages their curiosity, to get outdoors in the fresh air and learn about the environment. With the recent pandemic, school outdoor space has become an extension of the classroom so it’s even more important now than ever for schools to be able to have a fully functioning, safe and accessible outdoor space for children to enjoy and learn in.

“We hope the children will enjoy many hours of fun playing and learning in the great outdoors. Mount Pleasant Lane Primary School neighbours our family-friendly Hanstead Park development in Bricket Wood so some of our new resident’s children will hopefully also be able to enjoy the new space too when they join the school.”

Hanstead Park is a former country estate is set in acres of parkland, boasting plentiful green space, trees, and lakes to explore.
