With around a month to go before arguably the biggest social event in the area’s calendar – Linden Homes West Yorkshire is boosting support for one of the teams.
Now in its 52nd year, the Knarsborough Bed Race will see over 90 teams – and their decorated beds – making their way through the 2.4 mile route, many in efforts to raise funds for chosen good causes.
Among those taking part are a group of mums representing the Aspin Park Primary School, seeking to raise around £2,000 to buy a range of outdoor sports equipment.
Linden Homes West Yorkshire, which has a number of developments in North Yorkshire, has already offered a donation to the team – which is headed up by PTA member Sarah Leachman.
Sarah said: “A number of us are already in training for the event, organised by The Lions, and our theme is Villains and Heroes!
“We have received some fantastic support from Linden Homes West Yorkshire as part of our aim to raise £2,000 for some new school equipment.
“The Bed Race is such a huge and well supported event that we anticipate a wonderful turnout of competitors, as well as encouragement along the route from the estimated 50,000+ spectators.”
Among those joining the team on the day, and taking part in the race, is Linden Homes West Yorkshire head of sales Clare Reaney!
She said: “This is a fantastic community event, part of Knaresborough’s history for more than half a century. With so many teams, businesses and groups taking part for a range of good causes – we are delighted to play our part.”
