Junior Reds Football Club Scores With Linden Homes Kit Donation
14 Jan 2013

Youngsters playing for Bexley-based Junior Reds Football Club are running out in a brand new strip this season thanks to £500 sponsorship from Linden Homes.

The award-winning housebuilder’s donation paid for a full set of kit for the Under-15 Valiants side, one of the 49 youth and adult squads that are part of the thriving club run entirely by volunteers.

The brand new bright red strip will give the Valiants, managed by Rob Pierson, a boost for this season’s campaign in the Under-15s Division B of the Selkent South East London and Kent Youth Football League.

Club secretary Clive Chivers said: “We are proud to be associated with Linden Homes and are very grateful for their interest and support in our activities.

“Running a football team for the benefit of the local community is surprisingly expensive and such sponsorship is a welcome boost to all our helpers. The under-15 team are now well equipped for the season ahead.”

Junior Reds was founded in 2001 and welcomes players of all abilities and backgrounds. It was set up to provide a safe and caring environment for as many young people as possible to play football, and expanded in 2007 with the first of four adult teams.

Linden Homes South East managing director Steve Bangs said: “Junior Reds Football Club does an amazing job with so many youngsters, giving them a chance to exercise, learn new skills and work as a team.

“We’re delighted and very proud to be supporting them with a brand new set of kit. It’s important to us to go beyond delivering quality homes and to honour our pledge to invest in the community too. Everyone at the office will be cheering on the Reds this season!”

Junior Reds were the London Football Association Charter Standard Development Club winners for four successive years from 2008 to 2011. This award sets high standards in terms of organisation, conduct and sportsmanship.

The Valiants Under-15s team plays at King George’s Field in Longlands Road, Sidcup, near Old Bexley where Linden Homes recently launched its Heritage Gate collection of one, two and three-bedroom apartments and three and four-bedroom townhouses.

The homes have a village feel with the reassurance of being a gated development. They are next to the River Cray and open countryside but close to many traditional shops, pubs and eateries as well as parkland and landmarks such as the 800-year-old St Mary’s Church.
