Sporting youngsters from a newly established football side in the city are reaping the benefits of sponsorship from the award-winning house builder, which is supporting the community in which it is building.
A new Under 8s team – managed by FA licensed coach Darren Wright – proudly showed off its new kit during its first match just a couple of weeks ago, as well as its Linden Homes sponsored training kit, track suits and waterproof jackets.
The team is part of the long-running Gunthorpe Harriers Football Club, established in 1989 and which currently runs seven sides in the Peterborough and District Junior Alliance League.
Darren, who lives in a Linden Homes property at the Burghfield Place development at Gunthorpe, says he and the whole team are delighted with the sponsorship deal.
He said: “I had the idea for the team after my seven-year-old son Tyler said he wanted to play football but wanted me there with him – so the best idea was to manage a side myself. I am really grateful to Linden Homes for their generous sponsorship which will allow us to not only look the part on the pitch, but raise the profile of the club and Linden Homes.”
The timely sponsorship co-incides with a new phase of homes being built at Linden Homes’ Burghfield Place development – where Gunthorpe Harriers FC (www.ghfc.co.uk) will receive a VIP invitation to officially open the new show home.
Called White Willows @ Burghfield Place, the 36 two, three and four-bedroom homes will see some brand new designs.
Located at the front of the current development off Manor Drive, many of the homes on the new phase will overlook green open space on the outskirts of the city centre.
Work is already under way, with a stunning new show home due to open its doors to visitors next month.
