First time buyers Lydia Felton and Adam Ronayne, both 27 years old, are the first residents to move into a new home at Malago in Bedminster.
The couple had been living and working in Bristol for a number of years and were keen to get their foot on the property ladder. Lydia explains:
“We were both living and working in Bristol in a rented flat. We were fed up of paying for someone else’s mortgage so decided to start saving hard to get onto the property ladder. Over the past five years living in Bristol we have spent over £50,000 on rent!”
Looking for a new home close to the city centre, the couple found out about Malago originally via Facebook, before exploring the area in more detail. Using Help to Buy, they found that they were in a position to buy a bigger home than they originally expected.
“We had seen adverts on Facebook and then we were driving past and decided to pop in. We were originally planning to get the two bed house but once we read into the Help to Buy scheme more we realised the three bed house was more achievable than we first thought. The sales team were helpful and very friendly. We enjoyed getting to know Lisa so well and we’ve already had her over to our new home for a drink!” says Lydia.
