Easter Egg Appeal
29 Mar 2019

Linden Homes Western is collecting Easter eggs for the Teenage Cancer Trust’s local Bristol unit and needs your help!

Sarah Williams, regional sales manager of Linden Homes, said: “Teenage Cancer Trust is our charity of the year and alongside all the fundraising, we are collecting Easter eggs for the patients and their families. We’re asking our colleagues, residents and members of the community to donate an Easter egg, however big or small, by 11th April and we will then deliver them all to the local Bristol unit.”

Easter eggs can be handed in at the following developments:

  • Cleeve View in Bishop’s Cleeve
  • The Orchards in Thornbury
  • Bitton Mill in Bitton
  • Ensleigh in Bath
  • Longhedge Village in Salisbury

Around seven young people between 13 and 24 are diagnosed with cancer every day in the UK and the Teenage Cancer Trust provides expert treatment and support to young people from the moment they hear the word ‘cancer’.

Bridget Woodard, regional fundraising manager for Teenage Cancer Trust, said: “At happy family occasions like Easter it can be so hard for young people with cancer and their families to remember what 'normal' feels like. Cancer treatment can be brutal and for these young people it can often mean weeks away from family and friends isolated and afraid. At Teenage Cancer Trust we want to make sure young people don’t face cancer alone and that we do everything we can to help them cope at each stage of their treatment.

“Doing activities, celebrating key times of the year and helping them feel 'normal' can make all the difference. A donation of Easter eggs is such a treat and a wonderful way to say how much we care at what can be a really difficult time for young people and their families. Thank you so much for going the extra mile to be there for local young people.”

Sarah added: “A colleague’s 20-year-old daughter, Chloe, was diagnosed with cancer and we wanted to help the charity that had done so much to help her. We’ve been holding golf days, bake sales, dress down days, raffles and taking part in charity runs to boost our contribution.

“The Teenage Cancer Trust is amazing: providing world class specialist units in 28 hospitals, along with expert nurses and youth support coordinators; they run events and provide a wide choice of free wigs. We know first-hand from Chloe what a wonderful job they do and it’s certainly a charity that is very close to our hearts. Please do donate an Easter egg and help us make a small difference.”
