“Young, trendy and professional” is the lifestyle inspiration for the recently opened show apartment at The Metropolitan, a collection of stylish new homes for sale in Battersea.
The hi-spec development in Battersea Bridge Road is from award-winning Linden Homes. The traditional red-brick frontage of a refurbished former Edwardian police station has been united with the modern lines of newly-built properties and courtyard behind.
The treatment of the new show home – exemplifying the chic style of the modern phase of The Metropolitan – was conceived by Rebecca Pearce, design director at Killer 5 Interior Design Studios.
With the sales office receiving interest from customers hailing from Chelsea, the style has been focussed on a “younger, trendy, professional purchaser” with bespoke furniture mixed with on-trend fade and dye effects.
The property has its own private outdoor space thanks to a balcony shared by two bedrooms, one of which also has an en suite bathroom. A breakfast bar features in the open plan kitchen/living/dining room looking out over the landscaped rear courtyard. A bathroom and plenty of storage space complete the home.
Rebecca explained: “The colour and themes include deep aubergines with accents of varying aqua tones on a backdrop of white. It’s a mix which is brought through again in the contemporary artwork.
“The bespoke sofa is upholstered in a deep berry flat velvet which gives a luxurious look – but is still contemporary. As you enter the apartment, feature-wallpaper in the hall recess is a focal point, with a gloss white contemporary console table in front.”
She added: “The curtain fabric in the master bedroom has a ‘dip dye’ effect, which is a big trend at the moment, along with the faded effect on the cushions on the sofa in the lounge. We followed this theme through into the second bedroom with the faded effect on the wallpaper design.
“Furniture was a mixture of white gloss giving a fresh younger look to the design. The bespoke sofa has a black under frame which has also been used on the bespoke coffee and lamp tables.”
Other features include integrated appliances in the kitchen, sleek tiling, and underlit LED lighting, plus a secure video entry system. Residents can choose a three-month trial of Hyperoptic broadband and phoneline, and homes are ready for fitting Sky+ multi-room provision. A 10-year NHBC warranty and two-year customer care warranty are also provided.
The historic and contemporary sides of The Metropolitan are linked by a glass walled staircase atrium.
Dylan May, land, sales and marketing director at Linden Homes South East, said: “We wanted to put a spotlight on The Metropolitan’s exclusive quality, style and location – and this exciting new show home does exactly that.
“Thanks to its culture, shopping and atmosphere, Battersea is growing a reputation as a fashionable neighbourhood where people are eager to call home. Our customers are finding The Metropolitan is the right place to match those expectations.”
