Cheers! House Builder Raises A Glass For A Good Cause In Killinghall
04 Oct 2017

Helping to toast a social date in the Killinghall community calendar – Linden Homes West Yorkshire joined villagers in raising a glass at the Beer Festival.

The house builder, which has recently opened a show home at the nearby Cricketer’s View development, sponsored a keg at the busy event.

However, it wasn’t all about the beer, with a Prosecco Bar, Indian street food and entertainment forming part of the popular festival – held to raise much-needed funds for the village hall on Otley Road.

One of the Village Hall trustees, Anya Smyth said: “Killinghall Village Hall is run by the Village Hall Trust. It has two halls which both have kitchens and toilet facilities and it is used for a variety of social events and sports.

“On a weekly basis these include; badminton, pilates, yoga, karate, kettlercise and cricket. Events held throughout the year include discos, coffee mornings, race nights, strawberry tea, meetings, Christmas carols, concerts and events run by various groups within the village such as the WI, Choir and church. The halls are also available for private bookings and many children from the village have had their birthday party there.

“Since the playgroup closed last year, the Village Hall has lost it's main source of income – hence the decision to stage beer festival to try and raise some money for basic running costs, and to do something fun for the community.

“Our thanks to Linden Homes and everyone involved with making this second festival a success.”

Linden Homes West Yorkshire sales manager Pat Tennyson said: “We were delighted to be able to support such a popular social event for an equally worthy cause.

“With Linden Homes now having a presence in the village, this has been an ideal opportunity for us to show our support to the local community.”

Cricketers View will comprise a selection of 62 homes. Phase 1 is made up of a stunning selection of three, four and five bedroom-detached homes, a number of which have been reserved from plan.
