Cardington Community To Benefit From £350,000 Cash Injection From Developer
11 Dec 2019

A Cash boost to education, the environment and public transport are among the £350,000 worth of community benefits earmarked for the Cardington community.

The contribution by Linden Homes Midlands through the Section 106 planning agreement – a developer’s obligation to give something back to the community – marks the launch of its newest Bedfordshire development, Falcons Lodge; where the first homes are due for a June 2020 completion.

The money will be ploughed into a number of schemes, including:

  • Education - £200,200
  • Forest of Marston Vale - £5,000
  • Public Transport - £80,765
  • Sporting facilities - £58,179
  • Local authority contribution to provide new residents with information to encourage sustainable transport use - £7,150
  • Provision of affordable housing

As well as the numerous benefits to people living and working in and around Bedford, there is also something for people looking to move to or within the area – with the development in the village of Shortstown providing 108 new homes.

With something for everyone, Falcons Lodge will provide a selection of two, three, four and five-bedroom homes, along with one and two-bedroom apartments.

Linden Homes Midlands sales and marketing director Vanessa MacNee said: “We are delighted to be expanding our offering in Bedfordshire, in particular with the mix of traditional houses and apartments, and are extremely happy with the high level of early interest.

“We strive not only to meet, but to exceed the demands of our customers; in terms of design and quality, but equally taking into account location, proximity to good schools and commuter links to offer the very best home and lifestyle package.”
