Pupils at Caldecote Primary School will be more visible to drivers as the winter nights draw in, thanks to a donation from a local housebuilder.
Linden Homes, which is building nearby at its All Angels Park development in Highfields Caldecote, donated 195 reflective tags to the school for Road Safety Week (Monday 15 November – Sunday 21 November).
Road Safety Week is an annual campaign co-ordinated by the charity Brake, which aims to promote and inspire thousands of people across the UK to take action on road safety.
This year’s theme is Road Safety Heroes, celebrating and raising awareness of the heroic work carried out by road safety professionals.
Vicky Miles, higher level teaching assistant at Caldecote Primary School, said: “Our junior travel ambassadors are very grateful to Linden Homes for generously donating reflective tags to pupils in our school.
“The tags will be given out, and the ambassadors will reinforce the message to everyone that they should wear them as they travel to and from school during the winter months. These tags aren’t just for Road Safety Week but for Every Winter Week!”
Amie Neighbour, sales manager at All Angels Park, said: “These reflective tags will encourage the pupils to stay safe on the streets and help them to keep visible now that the darker nights are drawing in.
“Road Safety Week is a fantastic and worthwhile campaign, and we’re pleased to be promoting the cause this year by supporting Caldecote schoolchildren to travel safely to and from school on foot.”
