Building On The Foundations With Kempsey Primary School
06 Dec 2016

60 pupils from Kempsey Primary School visited the building site at Linden Homes’ popular Kempsey Mead development to find out more about housebuilding materials, as part of the national curriculum.

The visit took place during road safety week (21st to 27th November) and provided an opportunity for the company to talk about health and safety.

As well as a tour of the site and the show home, the pupils were shown safety clothing and discussed how to be aware of their surroundings. The site team arranged for an assortment of materials to be available including plumbing and electrical equipment, insulation samples and the pupils even tried their hand at bricklaying!

Teacher Andrew Hands from Kempsey Primary School said: “The children had an exciting afternoon exploring the site. It was great to see the range of materials used and have them explained to us. Being able to touch the different type of bricks and insulation made much more of an impact on them than what they would’ve been told in the classroom; it’s been a wonderful experience for them. The staff were lively and engaging and made the topic appear 'real'.”

Sue Scholfield, sales and marketing director at Linden Homes, said: “We were delighted to welcome the pupils to Kempsey Mead, they were so enthusiastic and we were asked some fantastic questions!

“We hope that we can make the children aware of how to keep themselves safe around an active construction site, giving them advice that they can use on their walk to school too. We’re running a competition for them to design a safety poster, which will be displayed on site, and we’re looking forward to seeing all the entries!”

Linden Homes is creating three, four and five bedroom high quality homes at Kempsey Mead. Two bedroom low cost homes are also available for qualified purchasers.

The development is located in the village of Kempsey, nestled in the Malvern Hills, and boasts easy access to Worcester. The show home is open Saturday to Wednesday from 10am to 5pm, off Main Road, Kempsey, WR5 3NF. Call 01905 409875.
