Back Of The Net! Grass Roots Football Sponsorship Is Safe As Houses

The grass roots football season is well underway following months of lockdown, and one local team is now celebrating ‘the double’!

Edenthorpe JFC Under 16s are not only back on the pitch, but have won the support of developer Vistry Yorkshire (part of Vistry Group which includes Linden Homes and Bovis Homes) as 2020/21 season home kit sponsors.

The team, which plays its home games just a stone’s throw from the company’s Harper’s Heath development in Hatfield, has recently taken delivery of the new shirts.

Under the guidance of manager Martin Phillips, the Premier Division side (part of the Doncaster & District Junior Sunday League) is made up of young players who have already established their team spirit on and off the pitch over a number of seasons.

And along with other volunteers, supporters and parents, Martin says the return of grassroots football has been a long time coming – and the new kit will provide a much-needed boost for the team.

“Lockdown and social distancing has meant that we have all lost so much time being out on the pitch and are thankful not only to get back to training and playing, while adhering to all the restrictions, but to Vistry Homes for their sponsorship which has given a lift to us all.

“Grass roots football not only provides a fantastic opportunity for youngsters to keep active and play a sport they love; but being outdoors and socialising is crucial to mental health and wellbeing.”

Vistry Yorkshire sales director Steve Woomble said: “We are delighted to be able to support grass roots football locally, not only the young footballers but the families in the communities where we are building.”
