As Keyworkers, We’ve Both Been Busier Than Ever So Home Exchange Really Helped Us To Move
26 Apr 2021

Kelly and Ed Tyrie moved to a new home at Linden Homes’ Longhedge Village development in Salisbury with their children, with help from the company’s Home Exchange† scheme.

Keyworkers Kelly and Ed, both 37, have a seven year old daughter and a nine year old son, plus Ed’s 13 year old son who stays with them for half of the week. They were living in a four bedroom townhouse in Durrington, just past Amesbury, but were looking for their forever home.

Speaking about the move, Kelly said: “We both work in Salisbury so we wanted to stay fairly local but we’d put our house on the market and it wasn’t selling. We’d been looking for old or new properties but we’re not great at DIY so the idea of moving to a new home with everything ready definitely appealed to us.

“We visited Longhedge Village and loved the downstairs layout of the Pembroke home. It has a fantastic open plan kitchen, dining room and living room, plus there’s a utility room, downstairs toilet and a study. The space really works for us and it offers lots of flexibility as the children grow up as there are double doors that can separate the living room if they have friends over and the study is perfect for homework.

“We’d used a home exchange scheme before, where the housebuilder buys your existing property so you can move to a new one, so when the sales consultant spoke to us about it as an option we knew straight away that it could help us move quickly. With Home Exchange there was no pressure and no worry about a chain, it really took the stress out of moving for us and they paid the estate agent fees. Linden offered us a good price for our house and it was lovely that there wasn’t that hard sell to buy, Nicola the sales consultant was very friendly and easy to communicate with. She was up-to-date with everything and very responsive so it’s been a really enjoyable experience for us.”

The family moved to the four bedroom detached house in time for Christmas. Kelly added: “We were so pleased to have Christmas in our new home and take advantage of the stamp duty exemption. It feels like a very grown-up house and it’s set back slightly so there’s also a nice feeling of privacy. It has a lovely garden and we’re just over the moon to be all settled in.

“As keyworkers, we’ve both been busier than ever with work but Home Exchange really took the stress out of moving for us and it feels wonderful to have accomplished something during these unusual times.”

Sales and marketing director, Sue Scholfield, said: “Moving house is one of the biggest expenditures you have and it can seem overwhelming when you need to move but it’s not the best time with work or family commitments. However, by opting for a new property there are many options available to you that aren’t possible with an older property. At Linden Homes, initiatives like Help to Buy, Home Exchange, Smooth Move and the part-buy-part-rent Home Reach scheme can make a real difference to help you afford the space you need or just make your move that bit easier.

“We’re delighted that Kelly, Ed and their family are all settled in their new home. They’ve had a very busy 12 months as keyworkers with young children, so I’m not surprised they didn’t fancy adding DIY into the mix! We wish them a lifetime of happiness in their new home.”

Situated in Old Sarum, Longhedge Village is being built by Linden Homes in joint partnership with Wates Developments. There are currently three semi-detached homes available and four bedroom detached houses.
