The children from Langdale pre-school, the outstanding Ofsted rated pre-school at St Vincent’s primary school, have been honing their carpentry skills in an amazing new woodworking shed, donated by Linden Homes.
The pre-school had sent a letter asking parents if they could help build a woodworking shed for the children, however one parent, a resident at Linden Homes’ Millbrook Park development in Mill Hill knew just the people that could help.
Jacqui Winchester, manager of Langdale Pre-school said they couldn’t believe it when Linden Homes offered to buy the shed for them:
“Originally we asked parents to give us a hand with building a woodworking shed – we were going to base it on a fabulous one we had seen for sale. We were thrilled when Linden Homes offered to buy it for us. We are so delighted and excited about it, as it’s something that we’ve wanted to organise for a while.
“Woodworking is one of our most popular activities and we’re very keen to help the children learn about the skills and the tools that are involved. I am sure the children will enjoy the woodworking shed enormously for a long time to come.”
Simon Pendlebury is Linden Homes’ sales and marketing director:
“We were so pleased to be able to help out and buy the woodworking shed for the children. It’s absolutely great that they are so interested in working with wood and tools and learning the basics of such a great trade... With any luck some of the children could be so taken with carpentry that, in years to come, they might want to come and work for us!”
