Architects Make Their Mark For Colour Road Rush
25 Jun 2015

A team of architects from Narracotts in Torquay are among hundreds of people set to make history by making their mark on a section of the South Devon Link Road when they take part in The Colour Road Rush.

Linden Homes and Galliford Try are inviting people to walk or run a section of the dual carriageway that has been more than 60 years in the making, by taking part in a one-off three kilometre paint run on Saturday 1st August in aid of local hospice, Rowcroft.

Narracotts Architects were the first corporate team to sign up to this unique event and have entered a team of eight people. Participants will take on the three kilometer route, passing through six paint stations where they will be showered in a cloud of washable neon paint.

Mike Hughes of Narracotts, said: “Previous partner Bryan Tanner was a Torbay Lions Club member, who assisted in the formation of the hospice. We decided to sign up for The Colour Road Rush to support this worthy local charity and because it’s a good opportunity for team building.”

The non-competitive Colour Road Rush is open to everyone aged 13 and over but, with just 1,000 spaces available, anyone interested in taking part is encouraged to register as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

Mike Hughes added, “We have one serious runner in our team but the rest of us will just be completing the course for fun. We’ve even given ourselves the team name Narra-trotts. We’re hoping to raise £1000 for the hospice and have asked for corporate sponsorship as well as undertaking our own personal fundraising.”

Galliford Try Executive Chairman Greg Fitzgerald added his support: “We have a long-standing relationship with Narracotts and are delighted to see the team have signed up. The South Devon Link Road is such a unique venue for this exciting event and the buzz surrounding it is incredible.”

Entry to The Colour Road Rush free if you sign up to a £5 monthly regular gift for the hospice. Alternatively you can raise sponsorship for Rowcroft and agree to pay a £20 entry fee to cover the costs of putting on the event. All funds raised from the event will help Rowcroft to continue providing its vital care across South Devon.

This charity event is taking place in addition to the community open day, which will take place on 25 July. This event aims to celebrate the construction of the road, whilst providing attendees with a behind the scenes view.
