A Third Year Of Festive Cheer For Broomfield Hospital's Youngest Patients
19 Dec 2016

For the third consecutive year in a row, Linden Homes Eastern has rallied its most generous members of staff to provide bags full of presents for children spending Christmas at Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford.

Linden Homes, which launches its Christmas appeal every year to support vulnerable members of the community, donated gifts to the patients on Broomfield’s Phoenix Ward for a third time after extremely successful efforts in 2014 and 2015.

With developments spanning Essex to East London, Linden Homes came forward in force to gather an array of gifts for youngsters. The company’s head office on Glebe road in Chelmsford was used as “Santa’s workshop”, where presents from Linden Homes Eastern’s staff were collected for newborns through to 16 year olds.

Lead Play Specialist from the Phoenix Children’s Ward at the Trust, Sue Hursit, said: “Last year the Linden Homes’ gift donation made a staggering difference, so we were over the moon to accept their generous offer again.

“Our priority at Broomfield is delivering the best possible care, but it’s imperative that our children’s ward also provides appropriate fun and entertainment in what can otherwise be a very emotional and stressful time for children and their families.”

Yvonne Carter, Charities Support Officer for Mid Essex Hospital’s ‘Our Charity’ said: “I would like to reinforce our gratitude to Linden Homes for partnering with Our Charity and joining in with the Christmas cheer on Phoenix Ward.”

Trevor Dempsey, managing director at Linden Homes Eastern, said: “Seeing the children’s faces when they received our gifts last year was more than enough reason to make Broomfield Hospital our organisation of choice again for the Linden Homes’ Christmas initiative.

“We were overwhelmed by the kindness of everyone who got involved, and we hope to bring our community together in a similar way next year to see what we can provide for those most in need at Christmas.”

Linden Homes is currently creating developments in Harlow (Edge), Thaxted (Meadow Gardens) and Roydon (Langland Place).
