“We Now Spend Our Weekends Foraging On Country Walks!”
14 Mar 2019

One Bristol couple have discovered their love of the outdoors since moving to Linden Homes’ Bitton Mill development in Bitton.

Beth Collins, 26, and Tom Purdon, 33, part exchanged their one bedroom flat in Bedminster for a beautiful three bedroom new house at Bitton Mill and they’ve just got engaged!

Tom is a research and development chemist for an agricultural company in Warminster and Beth is Linden Homes’ construction secretary at the company’s head office in Clifton, Bristol. Speaking about their move, Beth said: “I had no idea when I first saw the plans for Bitton Mill at work that I would end up living there! We wanted to move and the more I looked at the site layout and the floorplans, the more I fell in love with it. Tom and I spoke about the development and the rest is history!

“We reserved, part exchanged our flat and moved to our new home all within a month; I had the best present as we actually completed the sale on my birthday!

“Tom and I both hate DIY so having everything new and shiny with nothing to fix is ideal. Plus the whole house is a blank canvas for us to decorate in our own style. Our home is fantastic, it’s on a lovely, quiet road, has a gorgeous open plan living room and parking. As it’s just the two of us, I use one of the bedrooms as a dressing room and we have our own bathrooms – I use the main one and the en-suite is Tom’s domain. It’s been amazing to have extra space after being in our flat and it’s a novelty having a staircase after no stairs for a decade!”

Beth added: “Bitton is seven miles from the centre of Bristol, so we’ve gone from city living to rural living and we just love it! It’s funny how where you live impacts your life – my Instagram is now full of pictures of gorgeous views! We spend all our weekends going on long walks to pubs – it’s our new hobby! We’ve even invested in some Ordnance Survey maps and as well as The White Hart and The Swan near us, we’ve found a further 10 pubs in walking distance. Foraging was never something I thought we’d do but there are blackberries, chestnuts, sloes and plums in abundance.

“Bitton has so much to offer – there’s a steam railway nearby, a park, a cycle path to Bristol and Bath, a village shop and school. From the bell ringers group to the local historian who kindly held an event to tell us all about the history of Bitton – there is real community spirit here and everyone has been so welcoming.

“I work directly with the construction team and see their work ethic and attention to detail so I knew the homes would be built to a high quality. However, I didn’t appreciate how easy the Part Exchange scheme would make the whole moving process or how much I would love living in Bitton. It’s made me realise that moving is all about the location; we’re more active as a result and life has definitely changed for the better!”

Sue Scholfield, sales and marketing director at Linden Homes said: “We’re thrilled that Beth and Tom are happy in their new home at Bitton Mill and congratulations to them on their engagement! Living in a more rural setting certainly has its benefits and I love the photos they’ve taken of the local area. It makes me want to put my wellies on and join them!

“Part Exchange has helped hundreds of people move; it enables you to buy a new Linden home and sell your existing property in one quick move. There are no estate agent fees to pay, no chain to worry about and buyers can stay in their old home until their new one is ready. If you’re thinking of moving, come and visit us and find out how we can help you move.”

Bitton Mill features a collection of three and four bedroom homes. For more information on the homes, the sales and marketing suite at Bitton Mill is open daily between 10am and 5pm, off Mill Lane, Bitton, Bristol, BS30 6HJ. Visit our website.
