Steve Green, the site manager at Swallowhurst, a flagship development by Linden Homes in partnership with Wates’ Developments, in Cranleigh, Surrey, has been recognised as one of the best in his field at the house building industry's most prestigious awards.
Steve, 53, was recognised for his exemplary commitment to building new houses of outstanding quality at the South East finals of the Pride in the Job Awards on Friday, September 19, at the Hilton Brighton Metropole Hotel, where he picked up a Seal of Excellence.
Run by the National House Building Council (NHBC), Pride in the Job is the only awards scheme to reward site managers for their responsibility and for and delivery of residential developments from start to finish.
Steve was chosen from over 15,000 site managers nationwide working on projects registered with NHBC, the UK's leading new-home warranty and insurance provider, and will now represent the South East at the competition's grand final in London in January 2015.
Steve, who has worked on joint ventures with Linden Homes Guildford and Wates Developments for almost a decade, said: “Swallowhurst has been a fantastically rewarding development to work on, it’s a very prestigious site in a rural area and the houses are of a particularly traditional construction; architecturally the build has been challenging. I may well be in the limelight but it has been very much a massive team effort and this award is a credit to everyone who has been involved.”
As well as undergoing spot checks of the day-to-day running of their site, Pride in the Job judges assess site managers across 38 areas of site management, including their technical knowledge, consistency in the build process, leadership and organisational skills.
