Linden Homes staff in the south west auctioned some ex-show home furniture and raised over £1,400 for Mind, its charity of the year.
The various items, which were no longer required, were sold individually to mark World Mental Health Day on Sunday 10th October. Commenting on the initiative, area sales manager, Clare Acarnley said: “The furniture was practically brand new so it’s fantastic that it has gone to lots of new homes and raised much needed funds for the mental health charity Mind.
“We’ve been taking part in various activities to raise money and awareness for our charity of the year and this was another great fundraising event. There are some outstanding items which we will be donating to a charity shop and we’re delighted that it will help to make a difference.”
Juliana Oliver, fundraising account manager at Mind, said: “Many of us will be feeling the lasting impact of the pandemic on our mental health, especially for those of us with existing mental health problems. Our recent survey showed that two thirds of people said their mental health had got worse since the first national lockdown. Now, more than ever, we need to ensure we are there for everyone who needs us. Donations like this will enable us to continue to provide advice, information and support so that no one has to face their mental health problem alone.”
Mind provides advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem and campaigns to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding.
