Congratulations to Vistry Homes Yorkshire site manager John Firth who has been recognised for his professionalism and exceptional standards with a second coveted NHBC award.
Around 11,000 site managers competed for this year’s award, with John just one of only 47 in the North East region to win a Quality Award in the first round of the NHBC Pride in the Job Awards 2020.
For the second year running, John of Vistry Homes Yorkshire (formerly Linden Homes West Yorkshire) was hand-picked from 450 UK winners for his excellent standards on site.
John, who oversees the Oak Park development in Tockwith, said: “I’m delighted to have been recognised by the NHBC for the second year running. Progressing so far in this industry competition means an incredible amount to me, but it’s been a team effort to maintain such high standards, particularly in these more challenging times.
“Without everyone’s commitment we couldn’t achieve a really well run and highly successful development or deliver top quality homes.”
Vistry Homes regional build director Simon Cruise said: “This is fantastic news for John, who continues to show a real determination, personal and professional commitment to making his site the very best he can – and this has really paid off with him beating so much competition to earn this recognition.

John’s role is undoubtedly one of the toughest in house building and his drive for excellence is very much at the heart of the competition. Pride in the Job is celebrating its 40th anniversary, and the awards are the most highly regarded competition in the house-building industry, dedicated to recognising site managers who achieve the highest standards in house building.
John will now go on to compete for Seal of Excellence and Regional Awards which will be announced at events across the UK later this year.
Being selected by NHBC as one of the UK’s top site managers is testament to their commitment to building homes of outstanding quality for the benefit of the people who will live in them.
Over the past 12 months judges have assessed the skills demonstrated by the site managers in their day-to-day work, covering six key areas: consistency, attention to detail, leadership, interpretation of drawings and specifications, technical expertise and health and safety.
