New homes for over 55s, delivered as part of a multi-million pound investment in Sowerby, will be unveiled next week.
With construction well underway at Herriot Gardens, off Gravel Hole Lane, an open day is to be held at the Golden Fleece Hotel in Thirsk between 11am and 4pm on Monday 7th December.
The development has been built by Galliford Try Partnerships North on behalf of Tristar Homes, which is part of Thirteen Group and in partnership with North Yorkshire County Council. It comprises 26 two-bedroomed bungalows and an extra care facility including 64 one and two bedroomed apartments for sale, shared ownership and rent, which will be managed by Tristar Homes. The development has been supported by funding from the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA).
The properties for sale are being marketed by Galliford’s house building division, Linden Homes and Head of Sales, Kate Brooks, said: “Herriot Gardens offers modern, attractive homes with fixtures and fittings to an extremely high level of specification, in a village-style environment. There is a shop and a café/bistro for residents and the wider local community to enjoy, as well as extra care services for residents with greater needs.”

Extra care is designed for the over 55s to offer a range of living styles - from fully independent to 24 hour, on-site support. The building is constructed so that adaptations can be made to the homes later to allow easier access and mobility.
The three storey apartment block includes a communal area on each floor, an attractive garden room and residents’ car park. All homes, including the bungalows, feature graded and level access and wet room-style bathrooms, to offer enhanced accessibility.
