The project manager in charge of a new housing location in Botley has won a prestigious industry accolade in recognition of his work at the site.
Vistry Group’s Ben Hansford has won the 2021 Premier Guarantee Excellence Award for development of the year in the 51 to 100 homes category.
Ben, 31, from Southampton, is project manager at the Boorley Park development off Kingsman Drive, where Vistry is building 500 homes under its Linden Homes brand. The prize was awarded for phase 2 B6 of the scheme, which will comprise 82 homes when completed.
Run by the building warranty provider Premier Guarantee, the awards celebrate the achievements of developers and builders who consistently produce high-quality new homes.
Quality Recognition Award winners are announced each month throughout the year, with the successful site managers then being nominated for the Excellence Award in their respective category.
Sites are judged on various criteria, including the standard of site management and workmanship, health and safety, and site tidiness.
Ben won a Quality Recognition Award in August last year for his work at Boorley Park, putting him contention for the annual prize.
Ben said: “Winning this award came as such a shock. When we saw the result, it was such a great surprise.
“The houses at Boorley park are of such great quality and we often hear many compliments on the street scene. The team are also great and consistently push for well-presented quality homes.
“These awards are the first I have won in my career so far, so it was a great feeling once it had been announced.”
Ben has worked in the housebuilding industry for 11 years, starting out as a roof tiler before going onto complete an apprenticeship.
He joined Linden Homes, which is now part of the Vistry Group, in 2017 and has been based at Boorley Park for the past five years, working his way up from assistant site manager to site manager and then project manager in November 2020.
Vistry Group, which was formed in January 2020 and incorporates Linden Homes, Bovis Homes and Vistry Partnerships, also won the Excellence Award for developer of the year.
