South Kesteven District Council’s Planning Committee has granted planning permission for 228 new homes to be built in Grantham.
The homes are to be built by Linden Homes as Phase One at Rectory Farm, off Barrowby Road in Grantham.
The plans were approved earlier today (23rd December), and form part of a wider development of 448 new homes within Phase 1 of the Rectory Farm site, to be developed alongside Jelson Homes. Rectory Farm itself forms part of Grantham’s North West Quadrant Sustainable Urban Extension.
Linden Homes, which is part of Vistry Group along with Bovis Homes and Vistry Partnerships, is set to build 228 new two, three, four and five-bedroom homes in a mixture of detached, semi-detached and mews styles.
In line with the planning agreement for the development, 10 per cent of the homes will be allocated as affordable housing for local people.
Work on the 21-acre site is expected to begin in 2021. Linden Homes will also be providing 3.7 acres of public open space, as well as allocating 2.4 acres of land at the site to the neighbouring Poplar Farm Primary School, and an extensive package of financial contributions towards education, healthcare and off-site highways improvements.
South Kesteven District Council allocated the land at Rectory Farm for residential development as part of the North West Quadrant SUE, along with the adjoining Poplar Farm development, as part of its Local Plan after Grantham was designated as a New Growth Point.
Georgina McCrae, Planning Manager for Vistry East Midlands, said: “We are extremely pleased to announce that plans have now been approved for us to deliver 228 much-needed new homes at Rectory Farm in Grantham.
“We are looking forward to becoming part of the community, and the homes at Rectory Farm will be designed accordingly, to form a natural transition into the town, reflecting its existing character.
“As part of the wider masterplan for Rectory Farm, the development will feature lots of green open space throughout, including a wildlife corridor, play areas and public open space.”
