When loyal subcontractor, Dave Rollo sadly passed away in June, Linden Homes organised a charity golf day for those that worked with him; raising £3,070 for Rowcroft Hospice that cared for him.
Married with two children, Dave Rollo lived in Paignton. He was diagnosed with cancer last year and passed away at just 49 years of age. He ran successful business ‘Woodroll Carpenters’ with partner, Mark Woodhead and had worked for housebuilder Linden Homes for almost 20 years.
Bill Danks, build manager for Linden Homes said: “Dave was a hardworking contractor and a genuine friend. He always called everyone a ‘diamond geezer’ but that was a phrase that summed him up perfectly. I loved working with him and he will be greatly missed.
“Before Dave died, he asked us to help raise money for the hospice and it was very important to us to commemorate his many years of service. It was great to get everyone together at the golf day and remember him in such a positive way.
“A special thanks must also go to Torquay Golf Club for volunteering to host the event.”
Rowcroft Hospice serves the people of South Devon by providing specialist care (including nursing care, medical treatment, therapies, advice and support) to patients with progressive, life limiting illnesses.
Hayley Norrish, community fundraising manager for Rowcroft Hospice said: "We're extremely grateful for this generous donation, which will help us to continue providing our vital care across South Devon, to those living with life-limiting illness and supporting their families."
