AS the nation stood still to honour all those Fallen during world wars and conflicts, colleagues at Linden Homes paused also to remember the dozens of local men who lost their lives in WW1.
A large number of servicemen, many of them just teenagers when they were killed in action between 1914 and 1919, were from the Burton Latimer and the wider Northamptonshire area.
One of the most popular family surnames was Bucky, and to honour the connection, Linden Homes Midlands held their own minute’s silence at the Bucky Grange development in the town - where many of the roads are named in honour of those who perished during the First World War.
Representatives from the company’s sales and production teams joined the town in marking Armistice Day and the 100th year anniversary of the end of WW1.
Linden Homes Midlands managing director Trevor Dempsey said: “With such a strong local association in Burton Latimer in particular, it was only fitting that we remember not only all those who lost their lives during wars and conflicts, but to hold a special thought for the many young men who were either killed in action in France and overseas, or died in hospital back home from their injuries and other illnesses.
“We hope that with a very modern new homes development bearing the names of some of those who died a century ago, we and our residents can honour their memory for many more years to come.”
