New Managing Director At Linden Homes Eastern
23 Oct 2015

Trevor Dempsey is now more than a month into his new role as regional managing director of Linden Homes Eastern. Before he came to Linden Homes, Trevor was a managing director for Bovis homes:

“I covered the Central region for Bovis. It was a pretty large area which included the East and West Midlands, Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire, and Hertfordshire. We delivered 800-900 completions a year. Before that I was at Kier, where I established Kier Living a national developer/contractor.

Trevor says he was very familiar with both Linden Homes (and its parent company Galliford Try) and had wanted to work for the company for some time:

“Galliford Try has the national coverage and expertise to taken on any project, and Linden Homes is a company that has recently grown organically into the market place and not at any cost. I admire that. The focus at Linden remains on customer satisfaction and quality which is a different outlook to some of our peers. I think the economic recovery has seen some developers losing focus and the importance of being a good house builder, Linden Homes is different.

Trevor’s role will be to oversee all the regional operations, including land buying, building, sales, design and quality.

“Land acquisition is always challenging but I’d like to bring a more considered approach to the land we bring through. I want to concentrate on family homes, which would mean developing more 3, 4 and 5 bedroom family houses. I want our business to utilise the successful ‘Linden Layouts’ which have received great feedback from families around the country.

“I think we also need to be more aware of the relationships we have with local suppliers and contractors. My aim is to build a strong supply chain. There isn’t enough labour nationally at the moment and that’s a big problem for all constructors, our aim is to become the developer of choice for contractors.”

Finally Trevor is a true advocate of the apprenticeship, having been an apprentice himself.

“I started as a site based apprentice with Tarmac Homes. I quickly moved to the office to become a management trainee - so I absolutely realise the benefits of apprenticeships and giving young people the chance. It’s sad, but in the economic downturn I believe we have lost a generation of apprentices from the construction industry. I would advise any friends and family leaving school to do an apprenticeship.”

Trevor, who is 36 years old and married to Keri, has two daughters, 17 year old Chase and 9 year old Reyna. He currently lives in Lincolnshire, but is planning to move to Chelmsford, where Keri is originally from.

He says life is pretty busy at the moment:

“What do I do in my spare time? I don’t have much time! Outside of work I’m too busy being a husband and a dad, but I do like to play football and go to the gym.”
