New Cricket Pavilion Is Opened In Chippenham
29 Oct 2018

A new cricket pavilion has been built for the local community thanks to The Park development in Chippenham, which is being created by Linden Homes and Sovereign Housing Association, in a joint venture partnership.

The Park is providing 76 new homes on the former Westinghouse playing fields, just off Park Avenue. As part of the development, the joint venture has created new sports facilities at Chippenham Rugby Club, including a cricket pavilion and grounds, floodlights, scoreboard and nets.

Ceri Morris, vice chair of Chippenham RFC said: “The superb new pavilion is part of our new cricket facility which also includes an England Cricket Board approved cricket square and training nets. These facilities will allow our cricket section, who play under the name Allington Cricket Club, to enter local league cricket next season and to offer coaching to new players at both youth and senior level who wish to take up the sport or improve their existing skills. Allington Cricket Club and Chippenham RFC are extremely grateful for the considerable help and support thanks to The Park.”

Sue Scholfield, sales and marketing director for Linden Homes, said: “We are pleased to provide these fantastic new facilities for the local community. The new pavilion is already a hub of activity and we’re delighted it has been so warmly received.”

Mark Judge, development committee member at Sovereign, added: “The new pavilion will benefit the whole town and we’re looking forward to following Allington Cricket Club’s progress next season! It’s a great addition and wonderful to see it completed.”

The works were completed as part of The Park’s development. Tucked away in a quiet residential location, The Park offers a beautiful collection of three and four bedroom houses. With excellent links to the M4, a mainline railway station and good schools nearby, The Park has proved a popular development with homebuyers.
