More Than Half Of 'Edge' Homes Bought Using Help To Buy

It’s been over two years now since the Chancellor’s Help to Buy scheme was launched.

Since that time, it’s already had a major impact on house buyers at Linden Homes’ developments in Essex. 

Sales executives at Edge in Harlow report that 54% of the homes they’ve sold since April 2013 have been bought using the Help to Buy scheme.

Karen Roake, the sales and marketing director of Linden Homes Eastern says it has encouraged people to take that major step towards either buying their own home for the first time, or upsizing from their existing home:  

“Since April 2013, most of our sales at Edge have involved the Help to Buy scheme. The 5% deposit has literally opened doors for more than half of our customers here and I think people have been encouraged by the scheme’s more affordable monthly mortgage payments.

“There are currently four bedroom detached homes and semi-detached homes available at Edge. There are also three bedroom detached homes still available. You really need to come and see these properties for yourself – so you can appreciate just how unusual they are.”

Edge is part of the award winning Newhall development – a collection of homes built on land that was originally part of Newhall Farm, owned by brothers Jon and William Moen. The Moen brothers maintained that they didn’t just want to sell the land for development: They wanted to create a community, and one that would strive for the highest standards of planning, design and quality.
