Local Young Artists' Visions Come To Life
11 Mar 2016

Children from Saffron Green Primary School in Borehamwood have been given the opportunity to see their creativity come to life as their artwork has been displayed to the public on the hoardings at Linden Homes’ Empire Court development on Studio Way.

Linden Homes invited the children at the school to enter a competition, submitting drawings that represented famous movies to link in with the renowned film heritage of the area including that of the nearby Elstree Studios. Pieces were then selected to be reproduced and printed onto the hoardings for all to see at the local housing development.

The judges had the pleasure of sifting through all the very original and colourful entries.

Simon Pendlebury the sales and marketing director for Linden Homes’ Chiltern was one of the judges on the panel: “We had the tough job of choosing from a great selection of drawings that represented a whole host of films from Big Hero 6’s Baymax to the ever popular Anna from Frozen and Paddington Bear to Superman. There was a recurring appearance of the Star Wars characters too following the recent blockbuster hit. It was difficult to choose the winners so in the end we decided to use them all! Thanks to the pupils at Saffron Green Primary School, our hoardings are set to look very eye-catching.”

The young artists – whose ages range from 5 – 10 years gathered at the development site to admire their work.

The school also received a £500 donation from Linden Homes, as a thank you to the pupils for their hard work and inspiring designs. The staff are planning on putting these funds towards an outdoor table-tennis table.

Emma Petrou, School Secretary at Saffron Green commented: “The children were excited about the project and the idea that their artwork might be displayed in their local area. They were very engaged by the topic especially as we have some keen movie fans amongst our pupils! It was also a great opportunity to put the art skills they have learnt in school to practice in this engaging project.”

Meanwhile, behind the beautiful new hoardings, work continues to create the new Empire Court development which offers a collection of 1 and 2 bedroom apartments and 3 and 4 bedroom houses.
