Local first time buyers, Lilly and Henry are the first residents to move to Linden Homes’ Trenant Gardens development in Wadebridge.
Lilly Purchase is a wedding events coordinator and her partner, Henry Jarvis, runs Cornish Adventure, a company that offers kayaking, surfing and coasteering adventures. The couple, both 26, bought their new two bedroom Harcourt home on Henry’s birthday in February and moved on 30th June.
Commenting on the experience, Lilly said: “We were living at Henry’s mum’s house nearby in St Minver and were saving up to buy our own home. Unfortunately, everything in our price range was a bit too far away or needed lots of work, which we didn’t have the money for. It felt like fate, but I just happened to check the Linden Homes website – as I’d seen that they were building in Wadebridge and I was intrigued to know the prices – and as luck would have it, the homes had been released that day!
“Henry and I looked at the plans and spoke to Vicky, the sales consultant, who told us all about the Help to Buy scheme and we realised we could afford to move!”
Help to Buy* is a Government-backed loan, available on new build homes up to £349,000 in the south west. It enables homebuyers to purchase a Linden home with just five per cent deposit and a 20 per cent Government equity loan – a loan that is interest free for the first five years.

Lilly added: “We hadn’t specifically been looking for a new build so it’s great that everything has been done and we can spend our time and money on buying furniture and thinking about the décor, rather than splashing out on having a room replastered. As first time buyers, it’s been perfect for us.
“We bought off-plan which was fantastic, as we could choose our kitchen, and it was a pleasant surprise to see just how spacious the property was and see such a high finish. We also have lovely double doors that lead out to the garden which has been brilliant for entertaining and makes the room feel even bigger.
“We really wanted to stay in the area and be close to the sea; I can look out the window now and know straight away that it’ll be nice on the beach and that’s great! It’s close to Henry’s work, the Camel Trail and we have lots of family and friends nearby. We’re alway wild swimming and coasteering off local coves and sea caves, plus we enjoy dining out so Wadebridge ticked a lot of boxes for us.
