Over the last year, Linden Homes South has been delighted to assist its chosen charity: Oakhaven Hospice in Lymington.
The hospice is an organisation close to the hearts of staff at Linden Homes’ Totton office. It provides free day care; community care; hospice at home and inpatient care for 180 people per week.
Oakhaven Hospice is only partly funded by the NHS: The rest is covered by donations and fund raising.
So, this time last year, Linden Homes donated over a hundred items of former show home furniture to two of the Oakhaven Hospice shops (in Highcliffe and Shirley). The glamorous furniture were delivered straight to the Oakhaven warehouse, so they could be divided up and taken to the shops for sale. The ‘show home’ sale raised approximately £3,500.
And in April, Linden Homes’ Sally Frampton was joined by her colleague’s daughter Libby Watt at the top of Portsmouth’s Spinnaker Tower, where the pair proceeded to abseil down more than 100 metres to the safety of ground level. From their hair raising accomplishment, the daring pair raised more than £4,000 for Oakhaven.
Furthermore each month, Linden Homes’ South’s office in Totton relaxes with a dress down Friday; staff wear their casual gear and pay a small donation to do so. The proceeds (£2,512) have been passed on to Oakhaven Hospice.
Oakhaven’s Head of Fundraising and Communciations, Mike Denny says Linden Homes’ donations are very much appreciated:
“Just under 12% of our £3.7 million annual costs are covered by the NHS. For the rest we are wholly reliant on donations and fund raising initiatives like these, so we are very grateful for all this generous support.”
Peter Youll, managing director at Linden Homes South commented: “We are delighted to support such a great cause. Oakhaven provide much needed support to those that need it in the area and we are pleased to give something back to hopefully help the team as they head into 2016.”
