Top five housebuilder Linden Homes is in the running to win the title of Sustainable Housebuilder of the Year for the second year in a row.
The company has been shortlisted for the chance to be awarded the prestigious accolade which will be announced at the Housebuilder Awards 2014 in November.
The ceremony is one of the biggest events in the industry's calendar and will be held at a black tie event at the Tower Hotel in London, where sector experts and leaders will gather to acknowledge the best in the business.
If Linden Homes wins, the Sustainable Housebuilder of the Year award will join other recent green accolades including Developer of the Year at the New Energy and Cleantech Awards.
The company has been nominated as a result of various lower carbon and regeneration projects it has accomplished around the country.
Graylingwell Park, Chichester, for example, is the UK’s largest and ground-breaking zero-carbon development; Gateshead BIG is one of the North East’s biggest housing-led regeneration initiatives with all 2,500 homes set to achieve Fabric Energy Efficiency Zero-Carbon, equivalent to Level 6 of the Code for Sustainable Homes.
Meanwhile, at St Clement’s Hospital, east London, Linden Homes is working in partnership with the greater London Authority on a regeneration scheme to provide 250 new homes, creating London’s first Community Land Trust-owned housing.
Linden Homes Group managing director Andrew Richards said: "We are proud to be shortlisted once again in this category and to see our achievements recognised by the industry. The key focus for us is that we’re lowering energy bills for our customers, reducing emissions, recycling more – and it’s having a real impact where we build.”
